Tracy Bywater, 7th grade English language arts teacher at Crone Middle School in Naperville, has
been supporting FAAP for several years through book donations collected by her students. Over the years, Mrs. Bywater and her classes have collected hundreds of Dr. Seuss and other high-interest books to be distributed to the elementary school children in our programs.
A donation of any Dr. Seuss book is greatly appreciated. At holiday time, we accept donations of new board games such as checkers. We also accept donations of gently used, clean children’s coats. Please contact us for drop off information.
Each year, we hire high school seniors and college students to work as one-on-one reading mentors. We are looking for responsible students who like children and believe in the importance of reading. During the school year, students must be able to work from 3:00-5:30 and provide their own transportation. Interviews take place in September and May. In the spring, our workers are eligible to apply for the Hope for Tomorrow Scholarship. Please fill out and return application form to email@example.com
We have opportunities for high school students and adults after-school and in the summer. We provide training and supervision and work in the schools from October through May. Additionally, we have a six week program in the summer. All programs take place in elementary school libraries in Aurora. Please fill out the volunteer form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your generosity is the key to helping promote literacy in our community. All contributions are tax deductible and 100% of the funds stay in Aurora.
